Dr. Pat

The diagnosis
What killed the New [Republican] Majority?

First, there was mass immigration, which brought in 40 to 50 million people, legal and illegal, poor and working class, and almost all from the Third World. The GOP agreed to the importation of a vast new constituency that is now kicking the GOP into an early grave...

Second came party acquiescence in dropping half the nation off the income tax rolls, while making half dependent on government for food assistance, income support, rent, health care and the education of their kids from Head Start through Pell Grants...

Third, to accommodate its K Street bundlers, the GOP embraced globalism, empowering Corporate America to shed its U.S. labor force, move its plants to Mexico, Asia and China, bring its foreign-made goods back to the USA free of charge and pocket the difference.

Fourth, rather than bringing the troops home after our Cold War triumph and telling our allies the free rides were over, Bush I and II went crusading for a “New World Order” to “end tyranny in our world”...
The good doctor can promise no cure.
Yet, one matter over which the GOP had no control is the triumph of the counterculture.

What might be called the old morality—that abortion is the killing of an unborn child, an abomination, that homosexuality is unnatural and immoral—has been relegated by scores of millions, especially among the young, to the dark ages of the 20th century.

Americans who adhere to this traditional morality, rooted in Christian tradition and Biblical truth, are culturally outgunned and may now be outnumbered. They may have lost America for good.

What can the GOP do about this? Nothing.

What will the GOP do? Probably what comes naturally—declare itself “tolerant” and respectful of all views, pro-life and pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage and pro-traditional marriage.

Maybe Mencius Moldbug has some ideas.

Gay marriage, and other things

The Supreme Court concluded arguments yesterday on whether the U.S. Constitution prohibits a subordinate State from declaring that it won't redefine an institution that dates to pre-history. Round 2 commences today, with the Court considering the federal Defense of Marriage Act, presumably passed under the Constitution's federal marriage clause, or something like that. Steve Sailer considers the logical next item on society's agenda, namely, how will the rights of polygamists be protected? He concludes that African immigrants will succeed where fundamentalist Mormons and Arab Muslims have previously failed. Race usually trumps Sex on the victim hierarchy, and actual Africans (as opposed to African-Americans) pull a lot of rank indeed.

Undoubtedly this latest Great Leap Forward which modern society seems increasingly driven to make will have consequences, and one commenter at iSteve sees the growing acceptance of Islam--the living, breathing, call-to-prayer-in-your-neighborhood kind, not the re-enactors on the History Channel.

Right, and this may also be why Islam becomes popular. The polygnous African social and sexual environment is profoundly toxic for most non-Africans. With the increasing Africanization of society, Islam provides some defense from this toxicity by conceding limited polygamy while otherwise promoting a very strict sexual code.

This makes sense when you think about it. Say you're a young, white, working class man in debauched, atomized, social democratic Britain (or really, the West in general). You're taught all your life how untalented, inherently bigoted and unnecessary you are. ALL your institutions pile on with this message, including your civilization's own Church of England.

Islam gives you a rigid behavioral code, status, community, a sense of higher purpose and a long list of global conflicts to channel your violent impulses. What's not to like? Football (soccer) provides a good proxy, but spectator sports are expensive and vicarious. Islam is the real thing, and any poor schlep can do it. Post-modern Christianity, with its gospel of humble acquiescence and tolerance as ultimate virtue will not compete. Which would you rather be, a Holy Warrior or a social worker?

Interestingly, if you type "British men converting to Islam," Google will tell you what you really wanted to type was "British women converting to Islam." Women do appear to be the majority of converts. When white working class men start converting in large numbers, I expect the media will discover that Islam is patriarchal and undemocratic. Of course, if by that point Islam is where young men go because that's where the marriageable young women are, no amount of media tut-tutting will stop them.

See you on the prayer mats, boys.

Elder statesmen tell those crazy kids to get off their lawn

Those darned kids:

U.S. Sen. John McCain blasted fellow Republican Rand Paul on the Senate floor this morning for his 13-hour filibuster against the Obama administration's drone policies... "If Mr. Paul wants to be taken seriously he needs to do more than pull political stuntes than fire up impressionable libertarian kids," he said. "I don't think what happened yesterday is helpful to the American people."

Taking the floor after McCain, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) echoed these criticisms, adding that he was "disappointed" in his Republican colleagues who supported Paul's filibuster.

McCain and Graham seem to have a real bee in their bonnets about anything libertarian. Extra-judicial assassination of US citizens strikes me as a pretty awful milestone to pass with such limited debate. For instance, we can start by asking why we're handing out citizenship to such inimical people in the first place, which is just inviting these awful dilemmas.

The Republican Party has become the party of Boomer suburbanites, still believing in the system, still confident that Dear Old Dad (Greatest Generation ever!) is out there somewhere, running the machines and keeping everything on track. The Democrats are energizing young voters--social democracy and cultural Marxism sound great when you're young. The only Right-ist equivalent is libertarianism, and the Ron Paul movement was young, white, intelligent and male. This brief infusion of testosterone of course horrified old queen bees like McCain and Graham, who never move quicker than when it's to take the floor and assure us that nothing of the like will ever be allowed to happen again. Indeed not, Senators. Seven million whites stayed home last year rather than vote for the Republican nominee who doesn't want their votes anyway, and the numbers will only get worse.

Time to pull the Republican Party's feeding tube.
